Boxers are set to defend their titles at the Rising Lion in Elephant Shadow Boxing Championship in Aba on Tuesday, December 16, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The tournament, tagged “Enyimba 2025”, will take place at Aba Sports Club 1926, No. 1 Club Road, Aba, Abia State.
South-Eastern Nigeria Featherweight Boxing Champion, Chibuike Okoronkwo, will defend his title against Nwambeke Ndubisi, while Israel Ogbodo will take on Udeh Chibuike in the Super Featherweight category.
In the Lightweight category, Chinaza Okoronkwo will face Ede Peter, while Chukwu Chinonso will lock horns with Idris Abdulkarim in the Heavyweight class.
The champions and their opponents have already arrived in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia State, ahead of the championship.
Speaking to PUNCH Sports Extra, Okoronkwo, known as “King Priest” and the Pride of Amangwu Arochukwu, assured that he is totally prepared to successfully defend his title in his state of origin.
“I am leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that I successfully defend my title,” he said.
He appreciated Governor Alex Otti for his sports-friendly disposition and thanked the promoters of the championship, IKEUJ Boxing Promotions, the sanctioning body, the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control, and the Abia State Government for their roles in the exciting clash.
Ex-international boxer and promoter, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, expressed confidence that the event will be hitch-free.
The tournament promises to showcase top-notch boxers competing for the South-Eastern Regional belt.
The event is sanctioned by the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control and promoted by IKEUJ Boxing Promotion, with the Abia State Government as co-sponsor.
