The exchange began after an X user identified simply as A Malaika called out the Shamsudeen, accusing him of leveraging his father’s position to lobby shamelessly for political influence while allegedly using public resources to fund a lavish lifestyle.
Shamsudeen Mohammed, the son of Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, has sparked another outrage online after launching a barrage of vulgar insults on social media against a user who criticised him over his obsession with political appointments and alleged involvement in corrupt dealings.
Using his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, @shamsudeen_bala, Shamsuddeen, who is notorious for flaunting his privileged background and proximity to power, lashed out with deeply offensive expletives targeting the critic’s mother.
The exchange began after an X user identified simply as A Malaika called out the Shamsudeen, accusing him of leveraging his father’s position to lobby shamelessly for political influence while allegedly using public resources to fund a lavish lifestyle.
Responding to A Malaika’s criticism, Shamsudeen wrote: “Are you sick in the head?! Come and meet me face to face and tell Me such if truly you are a child of your mother, Kaji Tsinanne?!. Such an insult And waste of your Education, so just because some idiot opens his mouth and allege without proof does that mean it’s true, if that’s the case, I allege your mother is a whore and you are a bastard child, and that also makes it true.”
SaharaReporters had reported how Dr. Abubakar Ahmad, a lecturer at the Federal College of Horticulture, Gombe State was unlawfully detained on the orders of Shamsuddeen.
He was released earlier this month.
His release followed a series of explosive exposés by human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, detailing widespread corruption involving the governor, his family members, and cronies within the Bauchi State government.
Ahmad had earlier been remanded for 21 days on charges bordering on alleged defamation, injurious falsehood, and criminal intimidation after he posted a video of Shamsuddeen dancing with his wife on social media.
The video reportedly angered the governor’s son, who petitioned the police, leading to Ahmad’s arrest and arraignment.
Sources told SaharaReporters that the lecturer developed a life-threatening health condition while in detention, sparking outrage among civil society groups and rights activists who condemned his imprisonment over a non-violent social media post.
Mounting public pressure and media scrutiny — amplified by Sowore’s revelations about an elaborate network of alleged fraud and land-grabbing involving Governor Bala, his wife, and son — forced a turnaround in the case.
