The Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele on behalf of Gov Dapo Abiodun unveiling the 2024 National Sports Festival mascot on Tuesday night
The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun on Tuesday unveiled the mascot, the logo and the theme song for the 2024 National Sports Festival billed to be held in the state from May 16 to 30, 2025.
Abiodun, represented by his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, equally pledged that the state will deliver “the most memorable, most inclusive, and most inspiring National Sports Festival Nigeria has ever seen.”
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony held at the June 12 Cultural Centre on Tuesday night, The governor said that though the state hosted the sporting fiesta nearly two decades ago it is more than ready to welcome the country once again with a lot of new innovation that are set to redefine the national games festival.
Abiodun explained that the state is therefore proud to showcase the creativity and talents behind the theme song — rich in rhythm and spirit — as composed by Dr. Bayo Adepetun, while the Mascot was brought to life by a brilliant team from the Ministry of Culture.

He said that both works of art reflected the energy, cultural heritage, and aspirations of the good people of the state.
While saying that the state has made adequate preparation for an excellent outing and hitch-free hosting, Abiodun revealed that “The government has made significant investments in upgrading existing facilities and constructing new ones to meet world-class standards.
“These will not only serve the 2024 Festival but will stand as a lasting legacy of this event. Our goal is clear — to establish Ogun State as a prime destination for sports tourism and athletic excellence in Nigeria.
“In parallel, we are ensuring that our athletes are being well-prepared. I commend our coaches, technical staff, and the athletes themselves for the discipline and dedication they are bringing to the task ahead. We believe in you, and Ogun State is behind you all the way.
The governor added that sport is more than just a competition; but a unifier, a leveller, and a platform that could help launch some youths into both national and international stardom urging all parents to support their children participating in the national competition.
Abiodun, however, added that as much as the state is ready to host the sportsmen and women from all over the country, it needs the support of other stakeholders, including the residents of the state, the media among other partners for a successful and memorable hosting of 2024 NSF.
He said, “We are ready to host, but we need all hands on deck to make this a truly unforgettable celebration of talent, unity, and national pride.
“To our partners in the public and private sectors — come on board. To the media — help us spread the excitement. To all Nigerians — mark your calendars, plan your trips, and prepare to witness history.
“From May 16 to May 31, the heartbeat of Nigerian sports will be right here in Ogun State. Let’s make it count. Let’s make it spectacular. Let’s make it the best ever. Let’s make it Premium.”
Abiodun hailed the Local Organising Committee, under the leadership of the Executive Secretary, Dr. Kweku Tandoh, ably supported by Bukola Olopade, the Director General of the National Sports Commission, for working tirelessly to ensure the success of the games festival.
