For years, CAIDOV as an NGO has been intervening in cases of domestic violence and injustice. But we discovered that injustice thrives in silence. Many victims suffer because no one hears them

The Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV), a registered non-governmental organisation (NGO) in Nigeria, has unveiled its news and advocacy arm, CAIDOV Justice Watch, to investigate cases of injustice, expose abuses and amplify the voices of victims.

The unveiling was announced on Saturday in Lagos by the organisation’s Executive Director, Comrade Gbenga Soloki, who said the initiative was established to bridge the gap between victims of injustice and the general public through investigative journalism and community advocacy.

Soloki said the new platform would provide visibility for victims whose experiences of oppression and abuse often go unreported.

“For years, CAIDOV as an NGO has been intervening in cases of domestic violence and injustice. But we discovered that injustice thrives in silence. Many victims suffer because no one hears them,” he said.

“CAIDOV Justice Watch is now our loudspeaker — our media arm to investigate, expose, and publish cases of oppression until justice is served.”

Explaining the relationship between the two organisations, Soloki said CAIDOV would remain the parent NGO responsible for interventions against injustice and domestic violence, while CAIDOV Justice Watch would focus on media coverage, investigative reporting and public advocacy.

He said the new platform would extend the organisation’s reach by documenting cases of abuse and following them up through public reporting and advocacy.

“Other NGOs write reports. We will publish stories that the nation must read. Our press crew will be where injustice happens — from police stations to homes to communities,” Soloki added.

According to the organisation, CAIDOV Justice Watch will investigate and report cases of domestic violence, expose alleged police brutality and landlord harassment, document the oppression of vulnerable people, and amplify the voices of victims who struggle to obtain public attention.

The platform will also follow up reported cases from initial complaints to their resolution and advocate accountability among individuals and institutions accused of abuses.

As part of its launch, the organisation called on members of the public experiencing injustice or domestic violence to contact its justice desk for assistance and possible intervention.

It also invited volunteers, pro-bono lawyers, counsellors, donors and media organisations to partner with the initiative in advancing its advocacy work.

Members of the public can contact CAIDOV Justice Watch through its dedicated email address, [email protected], or its hotline, 08027829888.

Soloki reiterated the organisation’s commitment to challenging impunity, describing the initiative as an additional platform for bringing alleged abuses to public attention.

“We must not allow impunity unchecked in our clime,” he said.
