19-Year-Old Bauchi Housewife Arrested For Poisoning Husband’s Meal After 40 Days Of Marriage | Sahara Reporters
According to the police, Musa, who had been married for about 40 days, allegedly put a poisonous substance in her husband’s meal on August 12, 2026.
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old housewife, Aisha Musa, for allegedly attempting to murder her husband by poisoning his food in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area of the state.
The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday by its spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu.
According to the police, Musa, who had been married for about 40 days, allegedly put a poisonous substance in her husband’s meal on August 12, 2026.
The command said the incident was reported to the police later that evening following a distress call from an unidentified woman residing in the Wunti Dada area of Bauchi.
“On 12th August, 2026 at about 1515hrs, the suspect, who is said to be a bride of about 40 days, allegedly introduced a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal,” the statement said.
“Subsequently, at about 1940hrs on the same day, a distress call was received from anonymous lady residing at Wunti Dada Area, Bauchi, reporting the incident to the Police.”
Following the report, operatives of the ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, were deployed to the scene and evacuated the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi.
The police said the victim is currently receiving treatment and is in stable condition.
“In a swift response, operatives of ‘C’ Division Tafawa Balewa Estate mobilized to the scene. Thereafter, the victim was immediately evacuated and rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he is currently receiving medical treatment and is reported to be in stable condition,” the statement said.
The command said the suspect was subsequently arrested and allegedly made a confessional statement during interrogation.
“Furthermore, the suspect was promptly apprehended. During interrogation, she was cautioned and voluntarily made a confessional statement admitting to the commission of the offence,” the police said.
Officers also recovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained poison and remnants of the food as exhibits, according to the command.
The Commissioner of Police has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), for discreet and thorough investigation,” the statement said.
The police said the suspect would be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.
The command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
“The Command therefore reiterates its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, and to the enforcement of law and order across the State,” it said.
