The party gave the clarification following reports alleging that Obodoeze’s name was no longer on the INEC portal and that he had endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Uche Nnaji.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu State has reaffirmed Ocho Obodoeze as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general election, saying his name and those of other party candidates have been uploaded to the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The party gave the clarification following reports alleging that Obodoeze’s name was no longer on the INEC portal and that he had endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Uche Nnaji.

Obodoeze, who addressed the party’s leadership and other candidates during an emergency State Executive Council (SEC) meeting in Enugu on Monday, assured members that he would be on the ballot in the 2027 election.

He urged party members not to be distracted by what he described as attempts to create uncertainty over the ADC’s participation in the election.

According to him, the national leadership of the party had uploaded the names of the ADC candidates to the INEC portal and fulfilled all constitutional requirements for their participation in the election.

Obodoeze, who hails from Aku in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of the state, urged party executives and members to remain loyal to the ADC and intensify their mobilisation efforts ahead of the election.

He challenged party members to take the campaign to the grassroots and mobilise voters across the state to secure victory for the ADC.

The party’s Caretaker Chairman, General Chris Eze (rtd.), also urged members to remain united and work together towards winning the 2027 election.

Similarly, the Caretaker Secretary, Adolphus Ude, asked party leaders to focus on establishing strong and reliable structures at polling units across the state.

The Director-General of the Ocho Obodoeze Campaign Council, Walter Oji, called on party members to establish door-to-door canvassers across the wards and leverage their presence to strengthen the party’s grassroots campaign.

In a statement issued after the SEC meeting and signed by Ude, the ADC dismissed as “mischievous and deceitful” reports that Obodoeze was no longer the party’s governorship candidate or had thrown his weight behind the PDP’s Nnaji.
The party maintained that its national chairman had uploaded the names of its governorship and House of Assembly candidates in Enugu State to the INEC portal in line with the Electoral Act.
“The propaganda that the name of the ADC candidate, Ocho Obodoeze is not in INEC and that he is supporting the PDP candidate, Uche Nnaji, is a blatant lie,” the statement said.
The ADC also cited the August 13, 2026 judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja concerning the leadership dispute within the PDP in Osun State.
According to the party, the ruling in favour of the Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the PDP nullified the power of INEC to prevent political parties from submitting candidates’ names to the commission.
The party further argued that the INEC portal itself was not a constitutional requirement or specifically enshrined in the Electoral Act, but insisted that it had fulfilled all legal requirements for the nomination of its candidates.
The ADC alleged that those spreading the reports were attempting to distract the party because of its growing popularity in Enugu State.
“They know that ADC is the party to beat in Enugu State and their agenda is to distract us. However, we remain focused in our bid to rescue Enugu State from the maladministration of the present-day government of APC,” the party stated.
