Garba was reportedly abducted on Tuesday afternoon along the Tsafe–Funtua Road in Zamfara State, while his driver was injured during the attack.
Bandits have reportedly abducted Engr. Yahaya Garba, the immediate past Chairman of Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State and Managing Director of the Zamfara State Water Board.
Garba was reportedly abducted on Tuesday afternoon along the Tsafe–Funtua Road in Zamfara State, while his driver was injured during the attack.
The incident was disclosed by security expert and conflict reporter, Bakatsine, who raised concerns over the worsening security situation along major roads in Zamfara State.
According to Bakatsine, the former Gusau LGA chairman was travelling along the Tsafe–Funtua Road when the bandits attacked his vehicle and abducted him.
He said the attack also left Garba’s driver injured, further highlighting the growing risks faced by motorists and other travellers using the state’s highways.
“This afternoon, bandits reportedly abducted Hon. Engr. Yahaya Garba, the immediate past Chairman of Gusau LGA and Managing Director of the Zamfara State Water Board, along the Tsafe–Funtua road, and injured his driver,” Bakatsine stated.
The reported abduction adds to concerns over the security of major roads linking communities within Zamfara and neighbouring states, where bandit attacks and kidnappings have continued to pose serious threats to travellers.
Bakatsine described the development as “deeply worrying,” stressing that the increasing frequency of attacks on roads in the state requires urgent intervention from the relevant authorities.
The reported incident comes amid persistent security challenges in Zamfara State, particularly attacks by armed bandits who have targeted communities, motorists, farmers and travellers.
The Tsafe–Funtua axis is an important route connecting parts of Zamfara and Katsina states, making security along the road critical to the movement of people and goods.
Attempts to obtain comments from the Zamfara Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Yazid Abubakar, proved abortive, as he had not responded to requests for comments as of the time of filing this report.
