ADC fires, APC hits Tinubu over Atiku attack ahead of 2027 election
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have engaged in a heated exchange as political tensions rise ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The conflict centers on recent criticisms leveled by former Vice President and ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, against President Bola Tinubu.
The alleged colossal budgetary fraud cannot be swept under the carpet by weak and unconvincing explanations by the Chief of Staff.
Atiku Abubakar has intensified his campaign by attacking the economic policies of the current administration, accusing the government of worsening the hardship faced by Nigerians. He has specifically challenged President Tinubu on issues of transparency and accountability, including calls for an independent investigation into alleged bribery scandals involving high-ranking officials.
In response, the APC has defended the administration’s record, asserting that President Tinubu is operating within the mandate granted by the Nigerian people. The ruling party has dismissed the allegations as politically motivated and has demanded that the opposition provide concrete evidence for their claims of wrongdoing.
President Tinubu must lead by example by holding his Chief of Staff to the same standards of accountability as other public officials.
As the 2027 election approaches, both parties are actively mobilizing their grassroots structures. While the ADC, led by Atiku and his running mate Rotimi Amaechi, focuses on economic reform and governance, the APC remains committed to the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ and the re-election of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.
