NASS Should Impeach Tinubu For Going Contrary To Constitution – Atiku’s Aide
An aide to the former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has called on the National Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, argued that the President has consistently acted in ways that violate the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
According to the aide, the recent actions of the administration, particularly regarding the handling of national economic policies and the alleged disregard for judicial processes, constitute a gross misconduct that warrants legislative intervention.
He stated, “The National Assembly has a constitutional duty to check the excesses of the executive. When a President acts in a manner that suggests he is above the law or treats the constitution with levity, the legislature must act to protect the sanctity of our democracy.”
The aide further emphasized that the call for impeachment is not borne out of political vendetta but out of a genuine concern for the survival of the nation’s democratic institutions, which he claims are being systematically undermined by the current administration.
He concluded by urging the lawmakers to prioritize the interest of the Nigerian people over partisan considerations and to hold the executive branch accountable for its actions.
