Catholic Bishops Reject Foreign Aids Bill, Warn It Threatens Religious Freedom In Nigeria

As the nation prepares for the 2027 General Elections, the bishops called on all stakeholders to work for free, fair, and credible polls, encouraging eligible voters to come out en masse and vote according to their consciences.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has rejected the Foreign Aids (Regulation, Transparency and Disclosure) Bill 2026 currently before the National Assembly, warning that it poses a significant threat to religious freedom and humanitarian operations in the country.
