Kaduna Political Crisis: ADC Campaigners Allegedly Smash APC Vehicles As Parties Trade Violence Claims | Sahara Reporters

The development came amid allegations by the Kaduna State chapter of the APC that its members had been attacked while party offices and vehicles were vandalised by thugs across the state.

Some campaigners of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have allegedly smashed vehicles belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State.

SaharaReporters gathered that the incident occurred on Wednesday evening along Waff Road in Kaduna.

The development came amid allegations by the Kaduna State chapter of the APC that its members had been attacked while party offices and vehicles were vandalised by thugs across the state.

In a statement, the APC Kaduna Publicity Secretary, Sani Dan-Azare, called on the police and other security agencies to promptly and impartially investigate the reported incidents, determine what happened and bring anyone found culpable to justice.

“Various claims and allegations have emerged in connection with these incidents. We urge the security agencies to independently examine every credible lead and all relevant evidence brought before them,” Dan-Azare said.

The APC spokesman said Kaduna State had made significant progress in overcoming political, ethnic and religious tensions that had previously undermined the stability of the state, warning that such gains should not be allowed to be reversed.

“These hard-earned gains must not be endangered by violence, intimidation, vandalism or any other unlawful conduct,” he said.

Dan-Azare said the party remained committed to peaceful and issue-based political engagement, urging political parties, candidates and their supporters to conduct themselves responsibly and in accordance with the law.

“We urge our members and support groups across Kaduna State to remain calm, exercise maximum restraint and refrain from retaliation or self-help,” he said.

“No political contest is greater than the peace and security of Kaduna State. Let the facts be established. Let due process prevail. Let the law take its course.”

The APC spokesman also urged anyone with relevant information or evidence concerning the reported incidents to provide such material to the appropriate security agencies.

SaharaReporters previously reported that suspected political thugs allegedly linked to APC have attacked supporters of the ADC in Kaduna State, vandalising several vehicles belonging to members of the opposition party.

SaharaReporters gathered that the incident occurred when the suspected thugs allegedly arrived in a vehicle armed with cutlasses and attacked vehicles parked at the location.

A video obtained by SaharaReporters shows several vehicles belonging to ADC members with their windscreens and side windows smashed.

The footage shows extensive damage to the vehicles, with the glass on the front and side windows of several cars completely shattered.

On Wednesday, the Mafita Progressive Leadership Network (MPLN), a grassroots political support and community mobilisation group in Kaduna State, alleged that its headquarters was attacked by suspected ADC supporters.

In a statement posted on Wednesday, the group alleged that vehicles were damaged, its office vandalised and looted, and two members attacked with machetes.

The group also alleged that about ₦4 million in cash was taken during the incident.

MPLN said the alleged attack was reportedly led by one Rufai Chanchangi, and called on security agencies to conduct an immediate and impartial investigation.

It urged those affected and their supporters to refrain from retaliation and allow the authorities to establish the facts.

MPLN is a grassroots political support and community mobilisation group in Kaduna State that backs the development agenda and re-election bid of Governor Uba Sani.
