Police bullet has made my right hand dead, made my life difficult – Lagos man
Mr. Tomori says his life changed on September 30, 2011, when a police bullet fired at a checkpoint passed through the boot of his car and struck his hand. The injury left him unable to properly use the hand, and after travelling to India for an initial surgery, he could not afford the additional procedures required to restore it. After four years of legal battle, Tomori says the court ruled that the police should take responsibility for the cost of his hand reconstruction. But years later, he says he is still waiting for the police to act, despite writing to successive Inspectors-General of Police. He is now appealing for the authorities to honour the court’s decision and help him regain the use of his hand.
