Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled an attack by terrorists in Kaduna State and rescued three kidnapped victims in separate operations across Kaduna and Zamfara States.

The operations, conducted on September 10 and 11, 2026, also led to the recovery of motorcycles, firearm components and terrorist communication equipment, according to the Joint Task Force.

In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call concerning terrorist activities at Unguwan Gardago Village in Kaduna North Local Government Area on September 10.

The terrorists had reportedly invaded the community, robbed residents of motorcycles and mobile phones, and abducted a civilian whom they forced to guide them out of the village.

The troops, acting on the distress call, swiftly mobilised to the area and mounted an ambush along the terrorists’ withdrawal route.

The soldiers subsequently engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee and abandon the motorcycles and other belongings they had allegedly stolen from residents.

During an exploitation operation conducted after the encounter, the troops recovered three motorcycles, one PKT machine-gun working mechanism and components of a pump-action firearm, among other items.

However, the Joint Task Force said the terrorists killed the civilian they had abducted during the attack.

His body was later recovered by the troops and handed over to his relatives for burial.

In a separate operation in Zamfara State on September 11, troops of Sector 2 observed terrorists attacking a Canter vehicle along the Anka-Gummi Road.

The troops immediately responded to the attack and made contact with the terrorists.

The intervention reportedly forced the terrorists to abandon their victims and flee the area.

The troops subsequently rescued three kidnapped victims from the scene and recovered communication equipment believed to have been used by the terrorists.

The latest operations come as security forces continue efforts to disrupt terrorist and kidnapping networks operating across communities and major roads in the North-West.

In a statement issued on September 11, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, commended members of the public for their continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant.

He also called on members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.

“The Theatre Command remains committed to protecting the lives and property of the citizenry, while disrupting terrorist networks and denying them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area,” Danja said.
