Hull City have terminated Nigerian winger David Akintola’s contract by mutual consent, allowing him to complete a permanent transfer to Cypriot club Omonoia FC.
The 30-year-old joined Hull City from Turkish Süper Lig side Çaykur Rizespor in August 2025 and made 21 appearances for the Tigers during the 2025/26 campaign.
Akintola scored once and registered two assists as Hull secured promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.
He made his Hull debut as a substitute in the Tigers’ 3-2 home victory over Oxford United in August 2025 and went on to feature regularly throughout the campaign.
The Nigerian winger also represented the club in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup before his departure was agreed.

Akintola had previously played for Turkish clubs Adana Demirspor and Hatayspor, as well as clubs in Norway and Cyprus, before moving to England.
Confirming his departure on Thursday, Hull City thanked Akintola for his contribution during his time at the MKM Stadium.
“We would like to thank David for his efforts throughout his time at the MKM Stadium and wish him well for the future,” the club said in a statement on its X handle.
The termination clears the way for Akintola to return to Cyprus and complete his permanent move to Omonoia FC, while Hull will continue their preparations for their upcoming Premier League fixture.
Akintola’s exit comes after a season in which he helped Hull achieve promotion, recording three goal contributions across his 21 appearances.
