International Day of Charity: Small acts of kindness can restore hope, transform lives – First Lady – The Sun Nigeria

First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday said even the smallest acts of kindness could restore hope and make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable Nigerians, urging citizens to embrace charity and volunteerism as tools for building stronger communities.
Mrs Tinubu made the call in a message to mark the 2026 International Day of Charity, observed globally on September 5.
The First Lady said charity should not be viewed merely as giving material possessions but as a collective responsibility to support those in need and ensure that the vulnerable and less privileged were not left behind.
She stressed that compassion, generosity and kindness remained powerful instruments for reducing poverty and creating a more caring and inclusive society.
“Every act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference in the life of another,” she said.
Mrs Tinubu therefore encouraged Nigerians to extend helping hands to people facing hardship and actively participate in volunteer services within their communities.
According to her, collective action by Nigerians could help restore hope, strengthen communities and improve the lives of millions of vulnerable citizens across the country.
“As the world marks International Day of Charity 2026, we are reminded of the power of kindness, compassion, and generosity in building a more caring and inclusive society,” she said.
