BREAKING: Ex-IGP Egbetokun Orders Last-Minute Shake-Up, Redeploys Aide Serving Under Alleged Mistress, ACP Kuti
The last-minute redeployments were made by Egbetokun before handing over to the current Acting IGP, Tunji Disu.
An internal police wireless message marked “Most/Immediate” shows that the former Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered the redeployment of several senior officers across key formations, including the removal of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Shem Dauwa Yahaya from the Office of the Inspector-General of Police.
The last-minute redeployments were made by Egbetokun before handing over to the current Acting IGP, Tunji Disu.
Sources within Force Headquarters told SaharaReporters that CSP Shem Dauwa Yahaya, with AP/No. 86216, who served as Principal Staff Officer (PSO) III to the IGP and second-in-command to PSO II, ACP Yemisi Kuti, was transferred to Commanding Officer (C.O), Protect Base 6, Port Harcourt.
The order effectively removed him from the Inspector-General’s office and reassigned him to a field command position.
Insiders alleged that Dauwa worked directly under ACP Yemisi Kuti, whom sources described as a close ally and mistress of the former IGP.
The signal, referenced CH.5660/FS/FHQ/ABJ/SUB.15/X and issued from the Nigeria Police Force Secretariat in Abuja, was circulated to an extensive list of police departments and commands nationwide.
These included the Departments of Finance and Administration, Operations, Logistics and Supply, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Intelligence, Training and Development, and ICT at Force Headquarters.
It was also addressed to all Assistant Inspectors-General of Police in charge of Zones 1 through 17, Mobile Police units, Border Patrol, Maritime Command, Interpol, airport commands, state commands, and multiple specialised tactical, operational, and administrative units across the country.
The wireless message conveyed that the Inspector-General of Police had ordered the mobilization and demobilization of selected senior police officers, directing immediate changes to their postings and responsibilities.
The signal also ordered the transfer of CSP Guful Balmun Jibrin, AP/No. 118824, who was redeployed from his previous posting to assume duty as Commanding Officer of Terrorpol Base 8 in Jos, a specialised counter-terrorism unit.
In another directive contained in the same message, CSP Martin William, AP/No. 118819, was removed from his position as Commanding Officer of Terrorpol Base 8 in Jos and reassigned to Kaduna State Command.
Similarly, Superintendent of Police Dinfa Michael Nanvyap, AP/No. 190235, was transferred from Police Training School, Jos, to Mobile Police Squadron 13 in Makurdi, moving him from a training environment to an operational Mobile Police unit.
The wireless directive instructed all relevant commands and departments to “warn and release the officers to proceed accordingly,” indicating that the affected officers were to be formally notified and immediately relieved of their previous duties to assume their new assignments without delay.
It further directed the Computer Department, Establishment Department, and Records Office to update official personnel records to reflect the changes.
The message was distributed widely across the Nigeria Police Force structure, including Force Headquarters, zonal commands, specialised tactical formations, investigative units, training institutions, and all state commands, ensuring that the redeployments were formally recognised and implemented across the Force.
