Police arrest two suspects, recover ₦5.2m worth of drugs in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Bashiru Ibrahim, 27, and Mustapha Labbo, 26, both residents of Jamtari, in connection with the unlawful transportation of suspected Tramadol capsules worth over ₦5 million.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s spokesman, Suleiman Nguroje, he stated, “On 11th August 2026, the patrol team attached to the Area Command, Yola, while on routine patrol,  intercepted the suspects at Dabala Village via Malabu, while they were transporting the consignment from Jamtari to Garwa in the Republic of Cameroon.
“A search conducted by the patrol team led to the recovery of 150 packs containing a total of 150,000 Tramadol capsules, with an estimated street value of Five Million, Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦5,250,000).”
According to the statement, the suspects and the recovered exhibits were taken into police custody, adding that investigation is ongoing to establish the source of the drugs and other persons connected to the illegal consignment.
The command further urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to the police that could assist in preventing crime and protecting communities. “The Adamawa State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Kabir  Hassan, reiterates its commitment to combating the trafficking and abuse of illicit and controlled substances in the state,” the statement added.
In a similar development, the command announced the report of a missing child of unknown identity who was found by a resident.
According to a statement by Nguroje, the child was found at the temporary Market Bypass by one Shitu Mahmudu, of Wuro Hausa, Yola South Local Government Area, and was handed over to police.
“Currently, the found child is unable to provide sufficient information about his identity or trace his family. The child is presently in safe custody at Yola Division.
“Members of the public who may have useful information, or can identify the child and locate his family, are kindly requested to contact the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Yola Division, via 08034645512, 08148026762
