The governor assured the people that his second term would build on the achievements of his first administration while addressing areas where his government had fallen short.
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has extended an olive branch to his opponents after securing re-election, pledging to unite the state and transform it from a civil service state into an industrial hub and investment destination.
Adeleke, who spoke during his victory speech following his re-election on Sunday, dedicated his victory to the people of Osun State, commending them for their resilience and commitment to democracy despite what he described as intense pressure in the months leading to the election.
“In the last few months, Osun people have been under very intense pressure, today the issues have been settled by the grace of God and people. I therefore dedicate this victory to the good people of Osun state. I deeply appreciate your resilience, strong will and unwavering commitment to democracy,” Adeleke said in an address on Sunday.
The governor assured the people that his second term would build on the achievements of his first administration while addressing areas where his government had fallen short.
“As you have trusted me again for the second term in office, I will not disappoint you to serve you better. I will reinforce my strong points and correct my errors. Osun will witness further accelerated development and growth under my administration five points agenda,” he said.
Adeleke also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his role in ensuring a free and fair election, while reaffirming his support for the President’s bid for a second term in 2027.
“I must at this point thank Mr President for ensuring free and fair election. Mr President is a son of Osun State and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him in the second term 2027 general elections,” he said.
The governor equally acknowledged the support he received from Nigerians and democracy advocates at home and abroad, saying the experience had strengthened his faith in democratic governance.
He also expressed appreciation to the media for its coverage of the election and its role in promoting democratic participation.
“Osun state is on the march again. We shall widen the net of development and ensure good governance,” he said.
Adeleke, who stressed the need to move beyond the contest and unite the state, described the election as a contest without permanent winners or losers.
“In this race, there is no victor, no vanquish. I extend my olive branch to my co-contestants. I am the governor of all Osun State people. My vision: taking Osun from a civil service state to an industrial state and an investment destination,” he said.
The governor’s declaration places industrialisation and investment attraction at the centre of his second-term agenda, with a commitment to broaden development across the state and create an environment capable of attracting businesses and investments.
He also called for unity among the people of Osun State, signalling an intention to move beyond the political divisions generated by the election and focus on governance and development.
Adeleke concluded his victory speech by congratulating the people of the state and reaffirming his faith in God.
Adeleke, who was the candidate of the Accord Party, was declared winner of the Osun State governorship election on Sunday, after securing 511,067 votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the final result during the collation of results in Osun State on Sunday morning.
Adeleke defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
