Afrobeats star Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, on Monday made a dramatic return to his alma mater, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, as he arrived on campus in a helicopter, drawing excitement from students and staff.
The award-winning singer was received by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Simeon Bamire, alongside other senior officials, including a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts, Dr Oluwatoyin Ogundeji, where Asake began his creative journey.
At the OAU Amphitheatre, the singer was welcomed by a large crowd of students. He thrilled the audience with an emotional appearance that featured drumming and a traditional Yoruba prostration, drawing loud cheers and applause.
Asake, who studied Performing Arts at the institution, was accompanied by his mother and popular entertainer Yhemolee during the visit.
The visit highlighted OAUโs reputation as a hub for creative talent, having produced several notable figures in Nigeriaโs entertainment industry, including fellow Afrobeats star Fireboy DML.
