Osun To Spend N2.5Billion On Refreshments, Meals In 2025

A SaharaReporters’ review of the proposed Osun state budget for 2025 has shown that a sum of N2.5 billion has been earmarked for refreshments and meals. 

According to the budget document, between January and September 2024, the state spent N527 million on refreshments and meals.

The N2.5 billion budget estimate for 2025 is more than the N1.8 billion budgeted for the same purposes in 2024. 

The state also plans to spend N1.662 billion on honorarium and sitting allowances, more than the N1.3 billion budgeted for them in 2024.

Between January and September, 2024, the state spent N764 million on honorarium and sitting allowances.

Other budget items on the state 2025 budget proposal include a sum of N2.7 billion for publicity and advertisements. 

Medical expenses and supports got a budget of N446.5 million for 2025, lesser than the N693 million budgeted for the same purposes in 2024. Welfare packages received a budget of N15.6 billion in 2025, more than the N9.1 billion budgeted for the same purpose in 2024.

Subscription to professional bodies increased from N266.8 million budgeted in 2024, to N11.3 billion in 2025. 

The 2025 budget for sporting activities is N862 million, an increase from the N820.7 million budgeted for it in 2024. 

The budget for direct teaching and laboratory cost for 2025 is N344 million, an increase from the N279.5 million budgeted for them in 2024. 

The budget for election logistics support for 2025 is N421.9 million, an increase from N188.8 million budgeted for it in 2024.

Osun’s budgeted expenditure for refreshment and meals estimated at N2.5 billion comes amid development challenges such as access to clean water, healthcare infrastructure among others.
