Victor Osimhen's overhead kick against Antalyaspor

Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, came within touching distance of breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s record with his wondergoal on Saturday.

The 25-year-old came off the bench in Galatasaray’s 3-0 win over Antalyaspor, replacing Mauro Icardi in the 78th minute. He scored the game’s third goal in the 92nd minute, volleying the ball into the back of the net with a stunning overhead kick.

The goal went down as one of the greatest in the Super Lïg this season and will probably go down in history as one of the greatest hits of all time, with many already tipping the strike to take home the Ferenc Puskas award.

As per Turkish outlet, NTV, Osimhen’s goal became just the second overhead kick in the history of world football to exceed the 2.30-meter height limit.

The Napoli loanee scored his overhead kick goal from a height of 2.32 meters in the match where the Cimbom team beat Antalyaspor 3-0 away, became the second goal in history to exceed the 2.30-meter barrier.

Osimhen’s strike comes below the strike of Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Al Nassr forward scored a overhead kick goal from a height of 2.38 meters during his time at Real Madrid in their UEFA Champions League quarter final clash against Juventus in the 2017/2018, which led him to receive a standing ovation from the Bianconeri fans as Los Blancos won the game 3-0.

Osimhen’s strike on Saturday was his first since recovering from a thigh injury a few weeks back. His return will be a massive boost to Okan Buruk’s side.
