Nigerian-born, United States of America-based singer, Chukwuka Okafo, Dr Soul, has officially rebranded himself as Jussoul.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, the singer revealed the reason behind his name change, saying his new identity amplifies the essence of who he truly is.
He said “As JussSoul, the focus is on creating an even deeper, more intimate connection with my audience. While the core of my music—soulful storytelling and emotional resonance—remains unchanged, this new chapter allows me to experiment and push boundaries. Fans can expect a more refined sound, blending genres in ways that feel fresh yet familiar. This evolution isn’t about abandoning who I was as Dr Soul but rather amplifying the true essence of what I’ve always stood for. It is about stripping back the layers to reveal a truer version of myself, both musically and personally. It is an invitation for my fans to join me on a journey of growth, self-discovery and fearless creativity.”
He added, “The decision to rebrand was born out of a desire to embrace simplicity and authenticity in both my music and my personal journey. The new name represents who I am at my core. Over time, I’ve realised that my artistry is about connecting with people on a deeply emotional and honest level, and I wanted my name to reflect that pure, unfiltered connection. This shift aligns perfectly with my current direction, as I focus on creating music that feels real, raw and relatable. It’s a symbol of growth and my commitment to staying true to myself.”
