Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has apologised to his teammates following a recent public outburst, according to Reds midfielder Curtis Jones.

Salah had expressed frustration with the club, saying he felt “thrown under the bus” and that his relationship with head coach Arne Slot had broken down.

His comments came after a difficult run of form for Liverpool, including being an unused substitute in a 3-3 draw against Leeds United on December 6.

He was also left out of the squad for a Champions League win at Inter Milan but later returned as a substitute in a home victory against Brighton.

As reported by BBC Sport on Saturday ahead of Liverpool’s game at Tottenham, Jones said: “Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff. He apologized to us, saying, ‘If I’ve affected anybody or made you feel any sort of way, I apologize.’ That’s the man that he is.”

Jones added that Salah remained positive and upbeat with the team. “He had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him. I guess it’s just part of wanting to be a winner and I don’t think he will be the last,” he said.

Salah’s apology appears to have helped smooth over tensions within the squad, with teammates emphasising his commitment and positive attitude despite recent challenges
