Pep Guardiola has insisted Manchester City remain firmly in the Premier League title race, while admitting his side must improve to reach their usual standards.

Speaking after City’s 3-0 win on Saturday, the manager struck an optimistic tone about the mindset within the squad, pointing to their belief and togetherness despite an inconsistent spell.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s post on X, Guardiola, when asked about City’s chance for the title, he replied, “Yeah, we will be there,” Guardiola said when asked about City’s title chances.

“If they follow me, we will be there. But we have to improve.”

Guardiola highlighted the team’s attitude as a positive sign, stressing that the foundations are in place even if performances have not always matched City’s high expectations.

“The spirit is there. “But the next step, hopefully Rodri is back, we have to do better.”

The possible return of Rodri would be a significant boost for City, with the midfielder regarded as central to Guardiola’s system at both ends of the pitch.

His absence has been felt as City looks to regain consistency in their performances.

With plenty of the season still to play, Guardiola remains confident that improvement will come, believing City have the quality and mentality required to stay in contention for the title.
