The President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, has confirmed that the guild has commenced an investigation into the dispute between actress and producer Peggy Ovire and actor Taye Arimoro.
Speaking with Saturday Beats, Rollas said the matter is already before the guild’s disciplinary structures.
“I have initiated an investigation on the matter. I depend on the National Task Force Chairman and disciplinary organs of the Guild to feed me back,” he stated.
The clash escalated earlier in the week after a viral Instagram Live video showed Arimoro alleging that he was assaulted on Ovire’s movie set.
In the clip, the actor appeared with visibly swollen lips and injured gums, claiming he was attacked by Ovire’s team while attempting to leave the production location.
However, Ovire, in an exclusive interview with Saturday Beats, insisted the video circulating online does not tell the full story.
According to her, trouble began after Arimoro allegedly assaulted two members of her crew and attempted to leave.
She said, “Arimoro’s video online isn’t the beginning of what transpired between my team and him. It all started after he beat up two members of my team and wanted to leave afterwards.”
Ovire added that Arimoro had no specific call time on the final day of shooting but suddenly walked off set without completing his remaining scenes.
“He left the set, and the Production Manager came to meet him outside and asked him to give us 30 minutes since he had only two scenes left to shoot. Instead, he beat the guy up and still went to social media to paint a one-sided story,” she explained.
The actress said she was inside the building preparing for the last scenes when the altercation began.
Ovire added that the situation escalated after her driver used her vehicle to block Arimoro from driving away, following the alleged assault on the manager.
She noted that the first confrontation occurred directly in front of the apartment, where no cameras captured the incident.
Meanwhile, when Saturday Beats reached out to Arimoro’s public relations representative, Samuel Ajayi, he said the actor is focused on receiving medical care while awaiting clarity from authorities.
“Currently, we are trying to prioritise his well-being, and we are also working hand-in-hand with relevant authorities to have the facts of the case cleared,” he said.
